Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new affixes. They can also boost its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Usually objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or gotten from chests or missions. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade an armor, weapon or other item in the game, the player must select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of item names. For instance the addition of a Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
item upgrader in Path of Exile has some important variations from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across several pieces.
This will enable the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base type. For example an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes for it and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade requires the use of a certain amount of Flightstones and crests based on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.
Engineers employ a level to compare the height of the building against a known point, such as the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that the buildings are constructed with the highest degree of precision and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can significantly increase the strength of an item and damage as well as other characteristics. It is possible to do this through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Each upgraded item may be equipped with a special bonus that increases the power of the item by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the better your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

In general the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their stats. It will also boost the defense of armor that has a newer appearance.
